Status Update: Our 2nd Gen Haptic Feedback Glove

Status Update: Our 2nd Gen Haptic Feedback Glove

At High Intensity Labs, we’re passionate about building innovative, open-source products that push the boundaries of technology and usability. One of our most rewarding projects has been the vCR Haptic Feedback Glove, originally developed as an open-source solution for Parkinson’s therapy. Now, we’re taking it a step further with the 2nd Generation Haptic Feedback Glove, designed as a flexible, customizable haptic platform for a wide range of therapeutic applications.

From Parkinson’s Therapy to a Versatile Haptic Tool

Our original vCR Glove was designed around the Vibrotactile Coordinated Reset (vCR) stimulation method, a technique aimed at disrupting abnormal neural synchronization in Parkinson’s patients. The project, available on GitHub, provides complete instructions to build a working glove, including PCB design files, firmware, and assembly guides.

With the 2nd Generation Haptic Feedback Glove, we’re expanding the possibilities:

Fully Open Source – A platform for researchers, developers, and therapists to implement custom haptic patterns.
Customizable Feedback Patterns – Users can program their own vibration sequences for different therapeutic or interactive applications.
Upgraded Hardware & Improved Comfort – Enhanced design for better fit, durability, and ease of use.

Key Features & Advancements

The new version of the glove builds on our original design but introduces more flexibility for different use cases:

🔹 Modular Haptic Patterns – Program different vibration sequences tailored to various therapy techniques or interactive experiences.
🔹 Precision Motor Control – Improved haptic drivers for smoother, more controlled feedback.
🔹 Enhanced Connectivity – Support for Bluetooth or wired connections, making integration with different systems easier.
🔹 Refined PCB Design – More compact and efficient circuit boards, optimized for ease of assembly and manufacturing.

Manufacturing & Next Steps

We are currently finalizing the design and expect to move into manufacturing very soon. This means:

🔧 Prototype Testing – We’re refining hardware and firmware to ensure seamless operation.
🏭 Production Planning – We’re working with manufacturers to optimize the assembly process.
🛠 Community Contributions – We welcome input from developers and researchers who want to collaborate!

Looking Ahead

The 2nd Generation Haptic Feedback Glove is more than just an upgrade—it’s a platform for innovation in therapy, research, and human-computer interaction. Whether you're a researcher exploring neuroscience applications, a therapist looking for a custom rehab tool, or a developer working on haptic-enhanced experiences, we’re excited to see how this open-source glove evolves.

🚀 Stay tuned for updates as we move closer to production!
